Nora Grey, who is a sophomore living in Coldwater, Main. She sits with her best friend, Vee Sky, in Biology class  but when the coach changed the seating plan and Nora finds herself sitting beside Patch Cipriano, a tall dark mysterious senior who have already failed the class twice. Nora finds herself drawn to his black secret eyes and his mysterious smile. But when she see him in the Library and the way he is looking at her, making her suspect that he is stalking her.

Nora and Vee Meets Elliot and Jules. Elliot seems to be attracted to Nora and Jules keep disapering. Nora found a article about Elliot that he had been a suspect in a murder inverstergation in his old school, when his girlfriend is found hanging from a tree on school grounds, and there is sign on a break in in her apartment but later they found a suicide note. After that Someone breaks into Noras room and takes only the article. Nora start getting a bad vibe from Elliot, He start to seem allot more cold and violent after that.

   Mean while Patch is trying hard to find a way to kill Nora, because he finds a text in the book of Enoch that he can become human. By killing Nora he will also kill his Nepilim Vassal and become human. He tries to kill her the in the Archangel but he couldn't the same night he drives her home from Delpic and he tries again but again he can't. 

When Nora is a long way from home trying to find Vee, there is in Jules house to a party, she sees a pack lady get shot and out of thin air the body disappears. she is frezing and scared and she get that felling she have had the other times she think someone is watching her, she quickly call Patch there picks her up. Patch takes her to a motel room where Nora finds out what he is, what she is and what Patch is felling for her.

Later on the night Nora is home alone and Debria (Patch ex-girlfriend) tries to kill her, Nora is hidding while Debria is sitting the house on fire and Patch saves her. Patch tells Nora to drive to Delpic and stay there, but she don't for Vee is in the High School with Elliot and Jules. Patch getts to Nora before she does something stupid and he walks in to the School while Nora wait but in the end Nora walks in and she found Jules dead on the floor and not long after she finds Elliot laying half dead on the floor, and when she turns around Jules is standing behind her and smilling. Nora getts away from him and found Vee, told her to run and call for help.

The Book ends with Nora is fighting Jules, she sacrifised herself so Patch could be human and Jules would be dead. Patch turned her sacrifise down so he become her Guardian angel and Jules is dead...
